Interactive/UI Art Director

Description

CrossComm is currently looking for a cheerful, creative Interactive Art Director to join our talented production team. This person will have the opportunity to define the graphic identity, user interface, and interactive experience for websites, web applications, and interactive features for our clients' projects as well as for internal projects. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong commitment to creating interactive experiences that are innovative and fresh yet follow established usability/human interface principles. This person must be self-driven and self-managed, operating effectively with little oversight - yet welcome cooperation and collaboration with both team members and clients. The candidate must also demonstrate problem-solving skills that translate business objectives into interactive application concepts. In addition, the ideal candidate will possess the discipline and attention to detail necessary for fleshing out a concept into a completed, polished project. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Film/Video, Human Factors/Ergonomics, Cognitive Psychology, and/or Human-Computer Interaction
  • 2 years experience in interactive/UI design
  • Mastery of visual design/layout/typography/animation concepts
  • Ability to document interactivity and animation through wireframes, storyboards, flowcharts, screenshots, design specifications, and demos
  • Flexibility in implementing a variety of aesthetic styles
  • Ability to rapidly prototype and iterate designs
  • Passion for Internet technology and culture
  • Experience in developing creative interactive concepts that directly address business/marketing needs
  • Strong client-facing experience with the ability to pitch and explain interactive ideas
  • Mastery of Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash 8 Professional with basic skills in ActionScript, HTML, and CSS
  • High level of comfort with web-based technologies, technical concepts, and the constraints they impose upon design
  • Basic understanding of information architecture
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Strong self-motivation and positive mental attitude
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects concurrently and handle project/situational changes with grace
  • Proven track record of diligence and self-discipline, especially in adhering to schedules and meeting deadlines

  • Ability and desire to quickly learn new skills and technologies
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Comfortable with handling multiple projects and tasks
  • Directly related education and/or experience may be considered in place of the above requirements.

Preferences

  • 4 years experience in interactive/UI design
  • Expertise in object-oriented ActionScript 2.0/3.0
  • Experience in developing web-based games, interactive toys, and/or game-related artwork
  • Familiarity with Director, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Motion, Indesign, Imageready, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Adobe Acrobat Professional, and/or Maya (or similar 3-D rendering/animation software)
  • Experience in Digital Photography, Video Editing/Production, CD-ROM/DVD authoring and/or Kiosk Design
  • Proficiency in hand-drawn illustration and animation (especially cartoons or anime)
  • Experience in creating icons and infographics
  • Experience in digital audio production
  • Basic understanding of music/acoustic theory
  • Familiarity with using content management systems and database-driven websites
  • Familiarity with XML, XSLT, Javascript, and/or CVS technologies
  • Expertise with the Mac OS X platform
  • Experience in project management
  • Ability and desire to mentor and impart skills to other teammates
